Chicken Tikka 64 miles from South Pole

It is Day 6 of our trek to the South Pole. Today we walked for seven hours and did 8. 8 nautical miles so we’re only 64 miles away from the Pole. Tomorrow we’ll do 8 or  hopefully 10 miles so we will maybe get there in a week.

It was quite sunny to start with today so it was really warm but this afternoon the cloud came in and it got colder. The tent is also a lot colder as no sun is bringing the heat in. My shoulders are aching a lot and I’m starting to get blisters on my feet.

As we walk the floor sinks down and makes a big noise you can hear for miles which is really quite scary. We’re just having dinner at the moment: chicken tikka with rice which isn’t very nice but we have to eat it just to have the energy for tomorrow.

Well done

Hi Amelia Nick Martin's friends here again... Well done to all of you. So impressive and you made it on schedule. Please tell Nick we are hoping to see him on his birthday on Wednesday and will have a hugely calorific meal ready for him. Congratulations again and best wishes. Have a good journey home to the UK. Chicken Curry

I didn't know that you could get a take-away at the Pole! Was it delivered, or did you find a Ski-In? SORRY.... I cannot imagine what must be going through your mind as you travel for 7 hours a day across snow and ice. It must be a truly remarkable experience, even when it hurts. I would suggest some pilate exercises to help with your sore shoulders, but that might prove a little difficult to do in a tent!! Joy
